Exploring the journey from grief to gratitude

Music inspired by the people of the Andes,
performed by Edie Churchill Hartshorne and Vijali

The sculpture show at right, Achilli Pachacamac, was carved by sculptor Vijali Hamilton, musicians of Athualpa Manta and the community of Peguche, in the Andes of Ecuador. It is part of the Earth Mandala Project, Global Peace through the Arts, which Vijali founded. Musician Edie Churchill Hartshorne joined in creating the Andean Cultural Center in Peguche. The Center is dedicated to the preservation of Andean indigenous arts and culture. Ecuador is the first of nine countries which will form a circle around the globe during the second Earth Mandala. In the first Earth Mandala Vijali created monumental sculptures and ceremonial performances with twelve communities on her peace pilgrimage of seven years. For more information see www.vijali.net. Performance tours are available. Earth Mandala works in collaboration with the Abya Yala Fund for indigenous self-development in Meso and South America. email: abyayala@earthlink.net.
